The (UEU), located at Pediatric Movement Center's Frederick clinic, is an amazing tool our therapists use for strengthening, improving coordination and increasing range of motion for our patients. The Universal Exercise Unit is typically utilized as an intensive therapy program (typically a couple of hours a day for a specific period of time) but can also be integrated in your current physical therapy or occupational therapy sessions. The UEU can be used with all children, from those who are non-ambulatory, to those seeking high-level fitness.

What is the Universal Exercise Unit?

The Universal Exercise Unit is a specialized piece of equipment that provides physical support of your child, yet allows them to move more independently during a variety of therapeutic exercises. This is done through a system of pulley and straps that are customized by your therapist to promote your child's individual functional goals. The level of support/resistance is changed by your therapist to achieve optimal movement for your child.
