Empowered Connections

An adult program for individuals in self-directed plans


ABOUT

Participants will enjoy and practice social skills and life skill activities in an inclusive environment. Empowered Connections will

offer sessions throughout the year that focus on various themes. Each session will take place in our inclusive gym space.

OBJECTIVES

• Communicate and interact with people of all abilities

•Increasing gross motor skills

• Increasing fine motor skills

• Strengthening life skills

• Strengthening social skills

Social Skills

For children 3-12 years of age


ABOUT

In our social skills group, our team will work alongside your child in taking a journey toward building confidence and positive relationships! During this program, your child will learn ways to improve their social skills in a supportive and play-based environment. Through a variety of lessons and activities tailored to their specific age group, our instructors aim to equip your child with simple, yet effective ways to interact with their peers in a meaningful manner. Prerequisite: Child must have sufficient verbal communication to participate.

OBJECTIVES

  • Improve verbal/non-verbal communication cues such as body language and eye contact 
  • Develop active listening skills to better understand their peers
  • Build friendships within the group
  • Support and respect each other as we learn
  • Practice appropriate ways to express emotions and feelings
  • Develop basic problem solving skills for social situations

DETAILS

*There will be no group sessions on scheduled PMC Holiday Closures

• Social skills groups are organized by the following ages ranges: 3-5 years, 6-8 years, 9-12 years

KidMotion College

For children 3-6 years of age


ABOUT

The KidMotion College is designed to instill a lifelong love of learning. Our a play-based curriculum teaches students social skills, emotional regulation skills and academics in a fun, supportive, and interactive environment. KidMotion College is perfect for children preparing for the transition from home to school. Our instructors always ensure that the learning environment is safe and full of support and love.


DETAILS

  • Fall 2024 sessions are on Monday & Wednesdays from 9:00am - 12:00pm beginning Monday August 26th
  • Closed on PMC observed holidays
  • Snacks are provided
  • Small class sizes

PHYSICAL HEALTH & WELLNESS

For individuals of all ages


ABOUT

Our Physical Health & Wellness Program (PHWP) is meant to accelerate your wellness goals! Whether you would like to improve strength and agility for athletics, improve flexibility and core strength for gymnastics, accelerate your therapy goals, build confidence, build new skills, and/or improve your general fitness/wellbeing, this program is for you! 


DETAILS

  • Custom scheduling, goals and home exercise regiment

HANDWRITING

For children 4-8 years of age


ABOUT

Our 8 week handwriting group will help your child gain confidence in their handwriting skills by improving letter formation and overall handwriting legibility using a multi-sensory approach and the Handwriting Without Tears program to make learning handwriting fun. They will be led by an experienced instructor to allow for personalized instruction. Families will be provided with weekly activities & resources to carry over what is learned in each class.


DETAILS LEVEL 1 (4-6 years of age)

  • Develop hand strength and coordination for holding objects
  • Develop pre-writing strokes needed for writing letters
  • Work on writing and tracing his/her first name in capital letters
  • Work on hand-eye coordination for writing
  • Introduce capital letters
  • *Prerequisites: Child must have the ability to attend to a table top task for 10 minutes, is able to follow directions and is able to transition between tasks


DETAILS LEVEL 2 (6-8 years of age)

  • Work on components of writing (letter orientation + placement, sizing, spacing, etc.)
  • Work on a functional pencil grasp
  • Writing words and sentences
  • Work on forming and sizing capital and lowercase letters
  • *Prerequisites: Child should have the ability to write his/her first name,
  • has mastered 75% of uppercase letters, be able to follow directions and is able to transition between tasks.

STRENGTH & AGILITY

For individuals of all ages


ABOUT

The Strength and Agility program is an 8-week program designed to improve children’s overall performance by increasing strength, speed, power, agility, and endurance. By strengthening muscles, improving flexibility, and enhancing agility, the program aims to reduce the risk of injuries and optimize athletic performance. Each child will be provided with a program booklet which will guide them in take home exercises and important nutrition tips and tricks!


DETAILS

  • Led by a licensed Physical Therapist
  • Pre and post performance assessments
  • Individualized consults with a Registered Dietitian and a PT
  • Total cost of program is $300 for 8 weeks (valued at $450)
